Transport Canada Issues Warning On Galaxy Note 7 Use On Planes

As you might have heard by now, the FAA has issued an advisory in which they ask passengers not to use or charge their Galaxy Note 7 handsets while on planes. Over in Australia, local airlines have issued similar warning, and now it looks like over in Canada, Transport Canada has asked passengers not to use the Galaxy Note 7 while on a plane.

According to the statement released by Transport Canada, “Transport Canada is advising air operators, passengers and crew of this safety risk and recommends that Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices be carried in the cabin, where an incident can be immediately mitigated, and not in checked baggage. Transport Canada also strongly recommends against using or charging these devices in the cabin of an aircraft.”

As it stands, Samsung has officially recalled the Galaxy Note 7 and are working with the CPSC in the US to make it formal. No doubt this has hurt Samsung in terms of their reputation, but financially as well because last we heard, it has been estimated that the Galaxy Note 7’s recall will cost Samsung at least $1 billion. In any case hopefully Samsung will be able to move forward and put this behind them, and in the meantime if you do own the phone, you might want to consider returning it and getting a refund until it can be sorted out.
