TiVo has launched a new BOLT DVR today. It’s called the BOLT+ and it happens to support 4K UHD content just like the 4K Bolt DVR which was launched by TiVo in the fall last year. The DVR offers 3TB of onboard storage as well as a total of 6 tuners as compared to the older model, so you’re getting more bang for the buck, and certainly a lot more use out of this DVR.
Given that it has 3TB of onboard storage, the TiVo BOLT+ DVR is capable of recording up to 450 hours of HD content. The additional tuners enable it to record and stream more programs at the same time.
It has support for 4K streaming as well, aside from features like QuickMode, SkipMode, OneSearch, OnePass, and mobile streaming. These features were also included in the BOLT DVR which was launched last year. The new DVR can also be used as a Plex client so owners can access their media server as well.
The remote streaming option will appeal to many users who want to watch live TV and recorded shows while they’re on the move, out-of-home streaming will only be supported on one device at a time, though.
TiVo BOLT+ 4K-ready DVR has been released with a price tag of $499. It’s going to be available starting September 15th from TiVo’s website as well as online retailers like Amazon.
