More ‘Proof’ Of The Surface Book 2 Launching In 2017

microsoft_surface_book_7Last year Microsoft launched their first laptop, the Surface Book, which is also part of Microsoft’s Surface Windows lineup of devices, a lineup that used to be pretty much tablets. Unfortunately if you were hoping to see the Surface Book’s successor this year, you might be disappointed as new rumors have “confirmed” it will most likely be launched in 2017.

Earlier this month there were rumors that the Surface Book 2 could launch in Q2 2017 and now a report from ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley seems to have confirmed that. Foley has had a pretty good track record with Microsoft-related rumors and insider information, so it stands to believe that her report might have some truth to the claims.

According to Foley, “Last I heard, this fall rollout might feature minor refreshes of some of the company’s existing Surface tablets with newer, faster, processors and possibly a couple other minor feature updates. But new devices like the expected Surface Book 2 and Surface Pro 5 aren’t likely to get their big reveals until spring 2017.”

Last we heard, Microsoft’s decision to revamp the design of the Surface Book 2 is the reason behind the delay. Her report also seemed to suggest that the Surface Phone might only see a late 2017 launch, if at all. In any case take it with a grain of salt, but we guess you shouldn’t hold your breath.
