Samsung’s mobile payment service has reached its first anniversary in the United States. It’s a big milestone for Samsung Pay which now supports more than 500 banks that represent more than 80 percent of the debit and credit card market in the country. To commemorate this important milestone, Samsung Pay has been updated with support for coupons and it has also received a new Restore feature.
The new Samsung Pay feature brings an in-app coupon service which can be used to search, store, and redeem coupons. A new cloud storage feature has been added as well which enables users to restore membership, gift, and Samsung Reward cards when they sign into a new device.
“Our impressive growth shows that we are closer than ever to a world without wallets. We are excited to roll out more services and features that will allow the user experience and build enthusiasm for a safer, smarter and better digital wallet,” said Nana Murugesan, who is the VP/GM of service and new business at Samsung Electronics America.
The coupon feature has been made possible due to a partnership with Quotient Technology (previously known as Coupons.com). This partnership provides Samsung Pay users the ability to search, save, and redeem coupons at select retailers directly within the app.
Coupons are linked to a membership account so the savings are automatically applied when customers check out using Samsung Pay.
