Samsung Will Mark Safe Galaxy Note 7 Handsets With An ‘S’ On Its Box

With reports of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 exploding, we guess it is understandable that some of you guys might be concerned about whether or not you should go ahead and purchase the handset. After all who’s to say that the unit you bought is safe or if it could be one of the units that could explode upon charging?

Now Samsung has already issued an official recall but just for the peace of mind of customers, Samsung will create markings on the boxes of “safe” Galaxy Note 7 handsets with a white sticker and a blue letter “S”. This is to symbolize handsets that have been replaced with supposedly safe versions of the phone.

According to Samsung Australia, just in case you are worried that the “S” sticker might have been tampered with or if you just want to be extra cautious, “Once replacement Galaxy Note7 stock is available customers will be able to check their IMEI number on the online database that will be established here on Tuesday, 13 September. Alternatively, customers can speak to our call centre to check their device.”

So there will be the “S” sticker and the IMEI that customers can check against if they want to be extra sure. Note that this is the protocol enacted by Samsung Australia, but we can only assume that Samsung will be taking similar measures across the countries they operate in, but we’ll keep you guys informed of any changes/updates all the same.
