If you’re looking to get into photography but would rather not purchase a DSLR, the next best thing would probably to go mirrorless. Now there are many mirrorless cameras out there from the likes of Fujifilm, Sony, Panasonic, Canon, Nikon, and so on, but if you’re after an affordable option Olympus might have something for you.
The company has recently taken the wraps off the Olympus PEN E-PL8, the company’s latest entry-level mirrorless camera. Granted it might not have the features you can expect from higher-end mirrorless cameras, but we suppose for the budding photographer it could be a great place to start.
The E-PL8 will come with a 16MP sensor, in-body image stabilization, a 180-degree flip-touch LCD display, touch AF, a TruePic VII Image Processor, a bunch of in-camera filters, built-in WiFi for remote operation of the camera and for wireless uploading, shooting speeds of 5fps, Full HD video capture, and all of this can be had for $550 for the camera body-only.
However if you want to purchase it together with a lens, it will set you back $650 which will come with a 14-42mm IIR kit lens. The Olympus PEN E-PL8 will be going up for sale come this October.
