However it seems that some have discovered that the limit of 60% can actually be increased to 80% in the Settings menu. As you can see in the screenshot, if you disable the charging limit, the new default limit will be 80% which is still not full. However this is not recommended because the longer you charge your device, you’re basically increasing the chances that something bad could happen.
Of course you might be one of the lucky few whose handset is not affected, but then again why would you take the chance? We’ve heard reports of users who have had to go to the hospital to treat their burns because their phones exploded in their hands. As it stands over in the US, Samsung has already brought in replacement units, about 500,000 of them and are currently conducting exchanges.
If you haven’t done so already, you should probably power down your phone and head on over to the store you bought your phone from and exchange it ASAP.
