A couple of weeks ago, Apple announced a trio of new Beats wireless headphones. Given that Apple just announced the AirPods with the new W1 chip, we’re not surprised that the company also launched some Beats options that came with the same chip as well. However if you were hoping for higher-end wireless Beats headphones this year, you might be out of luck.
A report from CNET has revealed that Apple might not be planning on launching a new Beats Studio Wireless headphone in 2016. For those unfamiliar, the Studio Wireless is an over-ear pair of headphones with noise cancelling technology. If you prefer over-ear to on-ear, this is an option that you can consider, but like we said, the report claims that there will be no new model this year.
So why is that? Apparently Beats is unable to achieve battery improvements that would make it a compelling upgrade over the current model. The new W1 chip in the other wireless Beats headphones launched offer much improved battery lifespans, but it seems that Beats can get the Studio Wireless up to those levels, which is why a new model isn’t being launched yet.
That being said, the existing model’s price has dropped to $250 making it more affordable than when it was first launched, so if you’re fine with its current features and battery life, why not?
