Foxconn isn’t the only company that will be manufacturing the console. Other companies that are involved include Japan-based Misumi Electronics and Hosiden. This isn’t surprising as many companies have multiple manufacturers in the event that something goes wrong, they will have another company to help pick up the slack.
In addition, DigiTimes is reporting that annual production of the NX is said to be between 9.5-10 million units. This is admittedly rather ambitious because if you might recall, the Wii U only managed to hit 10 million sales in 2015, 3 years after its release, so assuming the numbers are accurate, Nintendo is certainly very confident of the number of units of the NX they think they can move.
Admittedly after the Wii U, many are skeptical about Nintendo’s ability to compete in the console space given that the PS4 and Xbox One are pretty much dominating the landscape, however Nintendo has proved to be rather resilient so maybe we shouldn’t be so quick to write them off just yet.
