If you’re someone who gets bombarded by emails non-stop in and out of the office, you know that during your drive to office you’re kind of let off the hook from checking them because you’re driving. If your car is one of your only respites from work emails, then maybe getting a Mercedes in the future might not be the best idea.
During IFA 2016, both Microsoft and Mercedes announced a project that they are working on that will make your commute more productive. Dubbed “In Car Office”, basically the idea is to integrate some of Microsoft’s Office features into your car’s infotainment system, and starting in the first half of 2016, it will see Microsoft Exchange as being one of the first few features to be integrated.
With the integration, it will see things like your calendar being introduced to your dashboard, meaning that while you’re driving you will be able to be notified of upcoming events or meetings that have been scheduled. Your contacts will also be included, to-do lists, and more, all of which are supposed to help make your drive more productive than before.
We’re not sure how they plan on integrating this into their vehicles while ensuring that drivers won’t be distracted, but like we said, if your commute to work is one of the few respites you have from work then this doesn’t sound like the best solution.
