Google Maps provides users with ride-hailing service options so that they can easily book a car after they have searched for a route and now want to be on their way. Uber is already there, and today the company has added Lyft and Gett to the ride service options in Google Maps. Both partners will now be accessible to Google Maps users in the United States.
With the addition of Lyft and Gett, Google Maps will now display options from 9 ride-hailing options in more than 60 countries across the globe. This enables users to compare fares and decide which is the most affordable and fastest ride available near them, without ever having to download separate apps and using them to book cars.
The ride services tap in Google Maps is displayed alongside driving, transit, and walking directions. Tapping on this icon will bring up fare estimates from all supported ride-hailing services in that particular market and various types of services offered by each partner will be shown in Maps as well, like with Lyft users will also see options for Lyft Line.
Users across the U.S. will soon start seeing Lyft in ride options while Gett’s availability will be shown to users in New York City.
