The LG V20 was officially revealed earlier this month, but unfortunately LG did not mention when the phone would be available for purchase. If you’ve read our review and you agree that the LG V20 sounds like quite a promising handset, and you wouldn’t mind getting your hands on it, there is now a date we can look forward to.
According to a recent tweet by Evan Blass, he revealed that the LG V20’s release date has been set for the 21st of October. His tweet was in response to a previous tweet that revealed that the Note 7 would resume sales in the US on the 21st of October, which seems to suggest that LG plans to take Samsung head on with the LG V20, or at least this is assuming that all the dates reported are accurate.
LG and Samsung’s rivalry is well-documented and it isn’t surprising, especially when you consider that both companies are from Korea and operate in pretty much the same markets where they sell TVs, monitors, household appliances, display panels, computers, smartphones, wearables, and so on.
Given that customer confidence in Samsung is probably shaken following the Note 7’s recall after reports of exploding batteries and cars catching on fire, and with analysts lowering their Note 7 sales estimates to about 60% of the Note 5, we have to admit we are curious to see how the LG V20 will fare.
