During IFA 2016 last week, Lenovo announced a new device called the Yoga Book. Lenovo’s Yoga brand is a well-established one, but with the Yoga Book, Lenovo has opted to do away with a physical keyboard. Instead they have introduced the Halo Keyboard which is essentially a backlit non-programmable virtual keyboard, which from our hands-on with the device was surprisingly good to type with.Lenovo also announced that the Yoga Book would come in either Android or Windows flavors, but for those who are fans of Chrome OS, it would seem that a Chrome OS Yoga Book might be a possibility. This is according to a recent interview the folks at Tech Radar had with Matt Lazare, Yoga Book Campaign Manager at Lenovo.
When asked about the possibility of a Chrome OS Yoga Book, Lazare said, “I can tell you that Chrome OS is something that we’re thinking very seriously about, especially with the big upgrades coming down the road that will allow access to the Android app ecosystem. You should look for us to take this hardware platform in Yoga Book and make waves on that front. Obviously you’ll hear more about that down the road.”
Unfortunately Lazare did not provide any specific dates for the Chrome OS version, but the Yoga Book is expected to be available in October so either we’ll hear more about it then, or it will arrive at a later date.
