As many of you guys might have heard by now, Samsung has officially begun to recall the Galaxy Note 7 following several instances of the phone’s battery exploding. In the wake of this setback that Samsung is experiencing, a report from DigiTimes is claiming that Apple is looking to take advantage of it.
How so, you ask? Apparently Apple has asked its partners to boost the production of the upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. We’re guessing that if the report is true, Apple is hoping that customers inconvenienced (or lost confidence in Samsung) by the problem might turn to them as an alternative. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen, but we guess we wouldn’t be surprised if Samsung’s competitors were to try and capitalize on the company’s misfortunes.
The report claims that Apple is boosting production by 10%, so we guess it’s not really that much, although given that Apple’s iPhone sales have been experiencing a decline based on their recent financials, it is rather optimistic of the Cupertino company to try and produce more phones, especially if the rumors of a completely revamped iPhone in 2017 are true.
In any case we guess the boost in production would at the very least ensure that there would be enough supply at launch, because historically Apple’s smartphones tend to run into supply issues during the first couple of weeks.
