When the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus were launched, there were many customers that were upset at Apple, not so much over the features or design of the phone, but rather how it seemed that despite promoting an upgrade program, Apple seemed to favor new customers over existing ones. This eventually led to a class-action lawsuit.However it seems that Apple’s tune has changed because it looks like the company is now ensuring that they are prioritizing upgrade program members. According to reports, Apple is now limiting in-store reservations to upgrade program members only. Prior to this, non-members were actually able to bypass the program and make their reservations.
Apple has changed the wording on the upgrade program to make it clear that customers need to be enrolled in it. “Yes. You must be currently enrolled in the iPhone Upgrade Program, so that you can upgrade your iPhone to carrier financing, or purchase at full price. Ask a Specialist for more information.”
While the company has yet to officially say anything on these changes, users on Reddit and MacRumors are now saying that they weren’t able to purchase the phone as they were told that they were reserved for customers part of the upgrade program.
