If that is the case then you better start packing your bags after you’ve called your accountant. The real home that served as Potter’s Privet Drive digs in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is being sold. The home is located in Berkshire, England. This three-bedroom property has been listed for nearly $620,000.
Potterheads will be well aware that this house – which belonged to the Dursleys – was located at 4 Privet Drive in the Little Whinging village of Surrey. A quick Google search reveals that this place doesn’t exist in reality. The home that served as 4 Privet Drive in the movie is actually located at 12 Picket Post Close in Martins Heron, Bracknell in Berkshire.
Don’t be surprised if the images on the listing page look nothing like what you remember from the movie. That’s because the owners simply gave the building to Warner Bros. in the year 2000. The studio had set designers recreate how the house was described in the books so naturally, it doesn’t look like that in real life.
Nevertheless, this is your chance to own a piece of movie history, and if you’re an ardent Potterhead with $620,000 to spare I’m sure you’ll be looking for flights to England right about now.
