However there is some good news, and that is in an update to Google Maps, the company has announced that the app will now be getting additional voice commands that you can use hands-free. “For the ultimate hands-free and eyes-free experience, first make sure you’ve got the latest versions of the Google Maps app and Google app for Android. Then, the next time you enter navigation mode or driving mode, you can simply say ‘Ok Google’ followed by a voice command, without needing to tap or even look at the screen.”
Users will be able to use their voice to do a bunch of stuff, such as looking for gas stations, hide/show traffic, mute/unmute voice guidance, avoid tolls, and even ask for traffic updates or to show alternate routes if you’ve encountered a bit of a jam. You can even get Google Maps to play music from Google Play Music, or even make phone calls. If you’d like the entire list of voice commands currently supported by the app, head on over to Google’s support page.
