According to Samsung’s announcement, “To date (as of September 1) there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally and we are currently conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market. However, because our customers’ safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have stopped sales of the Galaxy Note7.”
As for those who already own the handset, don’t worry as Samsung will be replacing your current device with a new one soon. “For customers who already have Galaxy Note7 devices, we will voluntarily replace their current device with a new one over the coming weeks.” This is pretty much the only instance we can recall that Samsung has ever recalled a handset on this scale.
Not to mention this is the company’s latest flagship which we can only imagine can’t sit well with investors or the confidence levels of their customers, but better safe than sorry, right?
