According to a report from both The Information (paywall) and TechCrunch, Facebook is apparently ready to launch Facebook At Work next month. So what is Facebook At Work? In case you’re hearing about this for the first time, the platform is basically at its core still Facebook that you’ve probably used. The only difference is that it is separate from your personal account, so if you want to share things with people at work, or take part in groups or discussions that are work-related, Facebook At Work will be your go-to platform.
Now at the moment only select companies are allowed to take part in the testing, so if the rumors are right, next month could see Facebook open up the platform to everyone. TechCrunch is also reporting that Facebook could be adopting a pricing plan that will charge companies per monthly active user instead of a flat fee.
The benefits to this is that they’ll be able to generate a ton of revenue from big companies, and for companies, if this doesn’t work out and their employees stop using the feature, then they won’t have to pay so much. In the meantime take the launch date with a grain of salt, but check back with us in October for the details.
