Bandai Namco has already confirmed that it’s going to release two DLCs for Dark Souls 3. The first is called Ashes of Ariandel and it’s going to be released next month. Fans of the franchise have been wondering about the franchise’s future since the press release from the original announcement back at E3 2015 described Dark Souls 3 as “the final episode.” Developer From Software’s president has said that the DLCs are going to end the Dark Souls franchise for now.

From Software president Hidetaka Miyazaki has said that the upcoming DLCs for Dark Souls 3 are going to mark an end to the franchise for now, he says that it’s time for From Software to move away from the Dark Souls franchise.

Miyazaki does point out that this absolutely does not mean that a new Dark Souls title may never be developed. “As president of From Software, I’m not completely denying the possibility of bringing back the franchise in the future. There could be someone else in my company who wants to work on new installments. But we believe that the series will end after the two DLC,” he said.

Whatever happens, fans should expect to see a dark fantasy or Dark Souls-like game from the developer. Miyazaki says that From Software would like to carry over some of the good things from the Dark Souls franchise to its new products, “we would like to take what we learned from Dark Souls and use it in future IP,” he added.

The first DLC for Dark Souls 3 titled Ashes of Ariandel is going to be released on October 25th.
