CPSC To Investigate Other Samsung Phones As Well

Samsung has been having a bit of a rough time in the past few weeks. Not only have they had to officially recall all the Note 7 handsets due to reports of explosions, but they’ve also had to endure a financial hit not only in terms of how much it would cost them to recall the phones, but the loss in the company’s market value as investors appeared to have lost some faith in them.

But that’s not the end. It has been reported that the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) will now be investigating other Samsung phones as well. Why is this? For some strange coincidence and following the reports of the Note 7 exploding, there have been other cases of Samsung phones exploding as well, like the Galaxy Core that exploded in the hands of a 6-year old, the Galaxy S7 Edge which Samsung is facing a lawsuit over, and a Galaxy S7 that was caught on CCTV exploding in the middle of a restaurant.

To be fair, these explosions phones are one-off incidents and does not appear to be a pattern with the rest of the models. For all we know, they could have had their battery damaged by their owners, or charged with an unauthorized third-party charge, and so on, meaning that it isn’t necessarily Samsung’s fault.

It is also possible that the investigation might yield nothing, but we guess given the spate of exploding phones, it probably wouldn’t hurt for the CPSC to take a closer look at it.
