Alongside the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, Apple also announced the Apple Watch Series 2 which is essentially the second-gen Apple Watch. Just like the iPhones, the new Apple Watches would be available for pre-order on the 9th of September, which is today, meaning that if you’re so inclined, you can actually go ahead and place your pre-orders.
However we should note that at this time of posting, it would seem that the majority of the Apple Watch Series 2 models are facing shipping delays. A lot of them are listed as shipping out in 2-3 weeks, so if you want to get the watches in a more timely manner, you will need to visit an Apple Retail Store on the 16th of September and try your luck then.
In the case of the Apple Watch Nike+, pretty much all the models are listed as shipping in late October. Even the top-of-the-line Apple Watch Edition Series 2 with the ceramic body is listed as shipping in 5-7 weeks. Either Apple is keeping very low inventory of their Apple Watches, or demand for the second-gen Apple Watch is higher than we had thought, either way it would seem the only way to get them on time would be to try your luck at Apple’s Retail Store.
In the meantime if you don’t mind the wait, you can go ahead and place your pre-orders on Apple’s Online Store, although we’d advise you not to dawdle as we can only imagine that the shipping estimates will continue to slip the longer you wait.
