However what many people seem to be excited over is 2017’s iPhone, which if the rumors are to be believed will be a completely revamped look and will feature things like an all-glass enclosure. Is that hard to believe? We suppose we might be a bit skeptical, but thanks to a recently discovered patent, maybe the rumors aren’t that unbelievable after all.
The patent was filed back in 2015 way before the rumors of an all-glass iPhone first came to light. According to the patent, it describes the method of building a mobile device, like the iPhone, completely out of glass. It reads, “A handheld computing device that includes an enclosure having structural walls formed from a glass material that can be radio-transparent.”
“The enclosure can be formed from a hollow glass tube or two glass members bonded together. A laser frit bonding process may be used to hermetically seal the two glass members together to create a water resistant electronic device.” Now the thing about patents is that it is hard to say if they will ever become a reality or if Apple is simply trying to protect its ideas, so we guess we’ll just have to wait until 2017 to find out if the rumors are true.
