Apple Music For Android Hits 10 Million Downloads

apple-music-android-screensApple typically keeps its services exclusive to its platform, but with Apple Music, they have opened it up to Android users as well. Given the fierce competition from the likes of Spotify, we suppose this made sense, although Android users weren’t particularly kind in the review section of the app.

However it seems that despite the negative reviews, Apple Music has been trudging along just fine. In fact according to the most recent stats, it has been revealed that Apple Music on Android ha been downloaded 10 million times! Or at least it is now within the 10-50 million range which is pretty impressive. Unfortunately 10 million+ downloads still pales in comparison to Spotify which is sitting comfortably in the 100-500 million installs, but who knows, maybe Apple will eventually catch up.

In fact just recently, Apple made Apple Music cheaper than Spotify by selling 12-month gift cards for the service. It will cost customers $100 upfront which when divided, amounts to about $8.25 a month versus $9.99 that Spotify charges. In fact it would pretty much be cheaper for Apple Music subscribers to subscribe this way, although we suppose the only downside is the upfront payment of $100 which some users might prefer spread out over 12 months.
