This is thanks to a recent partnership between Yelp and Nowait, in which it will allow Yelp users to check nearby restaurants’ wait times and queue up for them remotely/virtually. This means that if the queue is a bit too long for your liking, you can always pop on over to a nearby coffee shop, hop onto the virtual queue, and enjoy your latte until it is your turn.
When the table is ready for them, users will then get a text message on their phones notifying them. They can even text the restaurant back to let them know if they might be running late, so restaurants can decide if they want to hold the table for you or not. However don’t expect this feature to be baked into Yelp just yet.
According to Nowait, the integration into Yelp will only be arriving in the coming months and at this time, there are no specific deadlines so users will just have to keep an eye out for it for when it is eventually released.
