Xiaomi is a company known primarily for their smartphones. They have been very successful in that regard. However the company has also expanded beyond smartphones to offer up other gadgets like battery packs, drones, air purifiers, and now it seems thanks to a report from GizChina, Xiaomi is getting into tools as well.
The company has recently launched what appears to be an electric screwdriver. How is this different from a regular screwdriver? Basically instead of you doing all of the work, the electric screwdriver will take some of the work off your hands. From what we can tell Xiaomi has named it the Wowstick.
It will be battery powered with a motor capable to torque fasteners down to 3Nm. It will also come with 6 interchangeable bits which should for the most part cover commonly used screws and bolts. However Xiaomi is also said to be offering up a case of an additional 18 different bits just in case the basic 6 aren’t enough, although these extra bits will be sold separately.
All in all, the Xiaomi Wowstick appears to be priced at 199 Yuan, which is roughly $30. It’s unlikely that the Wowstick will find its way to the US, but it’s still interesting to see how diverse Xiaomi’s offerings are.
