The app will now be able to provide users with advanced warning about upcoming road closures. This means that users can plan their journey accordingly and avoid and closures that might be going on along the way. Right now Waze is opening up the program to various partners who can help notify users about closures.
According to them, “We’re kicking the program off with 20 inaugural partners spanning North America, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Asia, including: E15 and its five professional sports team partners: Atlanta Falcons (Georgia Dome), Washington Redskins (FedEx Field), Detroit Lions (Ford Field), Washington Nationals (Nationals Park), and Atlanta Hawks (Phillips Arena). Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series’ 30 global events, including New York, Montreal, Mexico City, and Madrid.”
It’s a pretty good idea and much better than relying on drivers to provide the information, in which by then it might be too late. The program is also free to participate in so that potential partners won’t have a barrier to entry and might be more willing to take part in it.
