Tesla has announced that after considering feedback from its customers and fans it has decided to offer a new two-year lease option for its vehicles. The two-year lease option is available to customers who are going to purchase either a Tesla Model S or Model X. The company already offers a three-year lease program but it says that there were a lot of requests for a shorter lease period.
Bear in mind that Tesla is only offering the two-year lease option as a trial. It will only be available on orders for the Model S or Model X made before September 12th. Tesla hasn’t confirmed if it’s going to extend the period beyond the given date.
Those who do decide to purchase a new Tesla on a two-year lease will have to pay $7,288 as down payment for a Model S 60 kWh model or $7,425 for the Model X at 10,000 miles per year. The monthly payment will then come out to be $593. Customers who opt for the three-year lease pay $3,862 and $3,983 as down payment for the Model S and Model X respectively.
It remains to be seen if demand increases for its vehicles as customers who were waiting for a two-year lease option pull the proverbial trigger and place an order for a Tesla car. If you are interested in a shorter lease option just keep in mind that you have to place your order for a Model X or Model S before September 12th, 2016.
