The Model Y is a vehicle that Tesla had been hinting at for quite a while now and it is supposed to be a compact SUV. However don’t get too excited yet as it will be quite a while before the vehicle is released. Musk stated that the company plans to shift their focus to the Model Y after the Model 3, meaning that there’s still quite a long way to go.
Also like we said with the Model 3 being planned for a release by the end of 2017, at least as far as initial runs are concerned, this means that assuming there are more orders for the car next year, Business Insider predicts that the Model Y will not be arriving before the end of 2020. This means we have at least 4-5 years of waiting to do.
This also means that details of the Model Y are pretty scarce at this point in time, especially since releasing information this early on would be pointless as plans will undoubtedly shift and change over the course of the next few years, but hey, if compact SUVs are your thing, you’ve got 4-5 years to save up for it.
