A Spotify subscription will soon become more appealing to a family that has small children. The company today introduced its Kids category that features content related to learning activities as well as language development. It will also include voiceover prompts in between songs that call on parents to interact more with their children while listening to music. Naturally, if you don’t find yourself around kids that often, this feature has absolutely no use for you.
Spotify’s new Kids playlists have been created around activities which include bath time, bedtime, or taking a trip in the car. The main different between this content and other content in Spotify that’s meant for children is that parents are given cues in between the songs to interact more with their child.
Some of the voiceovers have been narrated by the biggest names in the music industry, including but not limited to Wiz Khalifa as well as other celebrities like Sarah Michelle Gellar, Tyler Perry, Ashley Williams, and more. Voiceovers are available in both English and Spanish.
The company is working with organizations like Grammy Museum, The Bump, Carnegia Hall, Fatherly, and more to create more content for this Kids category which will become available in the near future. If you’re interested in this, look for the new Kids and Family section in the Spotify app.
