Now obviously this is a big no-no since overheating makes the camera impossible to hold. It is also worrying as it could lead to the battery overheating and potentially exploding. The good news is that Sony seems to have fixed it, or at least that’s what they are claiming in a recent firmware update for the A6300 mirrorless camera.
According to Sony, the update should result in “overall stability and operability”, and as well as “optimising temperature control.” However it seems that Sony seems to have only mentioned picture shooting in terms of temperature control. We’re not sure if this is just a wording issue, but it sounds like overheating in video mode has yet to be resolved.
In any case as we do not have the A6300 ourselves, we’re not sure if this update has truly addressed the issue, but if you do own the camera, it would probably be a good idea to update to it anyway and hope for the best.
