With a variety of mobile payments available, it really is quite competitive. Why should someone opt to use Android Pay when they can choose Samsung Pay, or PayPal, or even Walmart Pay if they tend to do the majority of their shopping at Walmart? This is where incentives come into play to try and entice users to choose a particular platform.
In the past we’ve seen Samsung offer up all kinds of promotions to get users to use its service, like getting a free pair of headphones, but now it looks like Samsung will be more direct and will be giving users $5 for every friend they refer and recruit to Samsung Pay. For every friend they get to sign up, users will be have $5 added to their Rewards balance.
However the catch is that you’ll only get the $5 when your friend makes their first purchase, meaning that you can’t keep creating accounts and referring yourself in hopes of maybe saving up enough for one of Samsung’s beautiful 4K TVs. The good news is that the rewards aren’t one-sided.
This means that when your friend makes a purchase, they too will be rewarded $5 as well, so essentially this is a win-win situation. This promotion will be valid until 31st of December, 2016.
