Samsung-Gear-360-Camera-02_900
Samsung has only released the Gear 360 camera it came out with earlier this year in limited quantities but now it has finally said when the VR camera is going to be widely made available through retailers. The company has made this announcement after introducing its new flagship handset the Galaxy Note 7 in New York.

The Gear 360 camera was announced back at the Mobile World Congress this year in February. It’s a small camera that enables anybody to capture video in 360-degree virtual reality.

It features a dual 15 megapixel Sony IMX147 1/2.3″ f2.0 camera as well as a gyro and accelerometer. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0. The Gear 360 features 8GB onboard storage with microSD card support, 1GB RAM, a 1,350mAh battery and happens to be water resistant.

Samsung has previously confirmed the price for this camera. It costs $349.99 but has so far only been available in limited quantities and that too at special events in the United States. Fortunately, it’s not going to make those interested in picking one up wait any longer.

The company has confirmed today that the Gear 360 camera will be available from its retail and carrier partners from August 19. The Gear 360 will be released along with the Galaxy Note 7 in about two weeks from now, it costs the same, $349.99.
