Back at E3 in June earlier this year, id Software took the wraps off their next Quake game titled Quake Champions. Unlike previous versions of Quake, the new game introduces a class system meaning that the model you’ve chosen in-game will not be merely about aesthetics, but will also have an impact on how you play the game.
So far we’ve seen the game’s trailer which looks pretty good, and if you’re wondering how the game actually plays, during Quakecon 2016, the official gameplay trailer made its debut and boy does it look good! Quake has always been a very fast-paced game unlike some other FPS games that rely on positioning, stealth, ambushing, and so on.
This trailer does a good job at reminding gamers what kind of FPS Quake is. According to Bethesda’s description of the game, “In true Quake fashion, you’ll have an arsenal of powerful and unique weapons, each of which will feel familiar to long-time Quake players. There’s no loadouts, and no limit to the amount of guns you can carry.”
That being said, the closed beta of Quake Champions has been set for 2017, meaning that the game’s release will also probably be around then, or maybe even 2018, but in the meantime enjoy the gameplay trailer in the video above.
