Pokemon GO is something of a gift and a curse. It is a curse in the sense that people have their noses buried in their phones more than ever, leading to accidents and just generally inconveniencing people around them. However in some cases, it is also a gift as many players have reported that it has helped with social anxiety.
It has also been a gift to some businesses, such as the Mad Hatter’s ice cream shop in the city of Anacortes, Washington. Apparently the business has been struggling for a while now, but thanks to the fact that the shop is in proximity to several Pokestops, many Pokemon GO players have stopped by to pick themselves up an ice cream or two.
Speaking to The Huffington Post, the shop’s owner Gary Dear claims that ever since the launch of the game, they have seen sales double or even triple on some nights. He claims that he has also been bonding with customers as some of them have tried to teach him about the game as well.
Dear also claims that he plans to take advantage of the craze by creating some Pokemon names for menu items in the future, so if you’re ever in the area, maybe you’ll want to hit them up!
