In recent times we have started to hear a bit more about Samsung’s upcoming wearable, the Gear S3. One of the rumors we’ve heard is that it will be retaining its form factor and its rotary bezel design. We have also heard the rumors that they could be partnering with a jewelry maker for a version of the Gear S3.
Now thanks to an exclusive report from SamMobile, additional details about the Gear S3 have been revealed, such as some of its upcoming features. According to the report, the Gear S3 is said to pack several new sensors under its hood, such as an altimeter, a barometer, a speedometer, and it will also come with GPS integrated into it.
Just in case you’re unfamiliar with these sensors, an altimeter is used to measure altitude and the watch is said to be able to display it in a graph format. The barometer will be used to measure atmospheric pressure, which at the same time can also be used to help determine altitude since the higher up you go, there will be a difference in pressure.
Last but not least is the speedometer which we’re sure many of you guys are familiar with. It will be used to measure speed, track your distance, and will work in tandem with the GPS. Basically it sounds like the Gear S3 is shaping up to be more of a smartwatch aimed at active users, as opposed to a lifestyle kind of product, but either way take it with a grain of salt, but do check back with us during IFA 2016 because that is when the Gear S3 is rumored to be announced.
