Moto Z Play & Hasselblad Moto Mod Officially Announced

We have been hearing rumors about the Moto Z Play and a new Hasselblad Moto Mod, and it looks like Lenovo/Motorola came through during IFA because they have officially announced both the Moto Z Play and the Hasselblad True Zoom Moto Mod, which by the way can also be used with the other Moto Z models in case you were wondering.

Starting with the Moto Z Play, what can we expect? If you have been following the news, chances are you already know something about it, but in case you haven’t, here’s a quick rundown of its specs. The handset will feature a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display. Under the hood, a 2.0GHz octa-core processor can be found accompanied by 3GB of RAM.

It will also come with a 16MP rear-facing camera with laser autofocus and will be available this September. There will also be the Moto Z Play Droid Edition for those who are on Verizon. The unlocked price is set at $450, while the Verizon version will cost customers $17 a month over the next 24 months.

As for the Hasselblad True Zoom, this is a Moto Mod that will play nicely with the Moto Z handsets. It features a 10x optical zoom lens and Xenon flash. It has its own dedicated shutter button, physical zoom controls, and can even shoot in RAW. Users will also gain access to Hasselblad’s Phocus software for editing their images, and will also be given free two years of original quality storage on Google Photos. It will not come cheap and it is priced at $299.
