We have been hearing a bit about the Moto Z Play for a while now, and now thanks to the folks at TechDroider, they are claiming that a Moto Z Play DROID is in the works. In case you’re wondering what the difference is, essentially there isn’t any, save for the fact that the DROID version will be a Verizon exclusive.
When Motorola announced the Moto Z handsets last month, they also announced the DROID versions for Verizon, so basically it doesn’t really come as a surprise to learn that there will be a Verizon model of the Moto Z Play as well, but when exactly will the handset be officially announced remains to be seen. However we are hoping that IFA will reveal some details.
That being said in terms of specs, the Moto Z Play DROID appears to be packing the same hardware as the normal Moto Z Play, which means we can look forward to a 5.5-inch Full HD display, 3GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 625 chipset clocked at 2.0GHz, a 16MP rear-facing camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, and will run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
Needless to say you should take it with a grain of salt, but Lenovo did tease Moto Mods for IFA so we wouldn’t be surprised if the phone were to be launched then as well, so check back with us later for the details.
