LG Launches Android 7.0 Preview Program For LG G5 Owners In Korea

android 7 lg g5It could very well be that LG will be the first to have a non-Nexus handset launch with Android 7.0 Nougat in the LG V20, but what does that mean for the rest of its phones? Will LG just launch the V20 with Android 7.0 but take months to push it out to other devices? We know that Samsung is certainly trying to speed it up the best they can, and LG appears to be following suit.

The company has recently launched an Android 7.0 preview program for LG G5 owners back in Korea. The LG G5 is the company’s current flagship smartphone so we guess it makes sense that it would be the first to receive the update. However like we said, this preview program is only for those in Korea and will also be limited to the first 2,000 users who sign up.

This makes the program’s scope rather limited, but we suppose LG wants to keep the number of users small so that if there are any issues with the update, it won’t be too widespread. We can also assume that LG may very well expand the preview program closer to its release, and possibly to other countries as well, but until we have an official announcement maybe you shouldn’t get your hopes up just yet.

LG has yet to officially announce the schedule for Android 7.0 Nougat’s release for their phones, like which phones are eligible and which aren’t, so if you don’t own the LG G5 or plan to pick up the LG V20, do keep your eyes peeled for more updates.
