KickassTorrents Team Seeking Donations To Rebuild Itself

As many of you guys have heard by now, the domain for KickassTorrents has been seized and its alleged owner has also been arrested. Now there have been a mirror site or two launched following its closure, but it seems like the crew behind KAT has plans to bring the site back to life, but unfortunately they are a bit short on funds.

So much so that the crew has since publicly asked for donations to help bring KAT back to life and to rebuild the site. According to Johnno23, “This site we now inhabit is costing money: Money that a few individuals put up to ensure the survival of this Community. This is still not the Kat we all remember but on a daily basis it is getting closer.”

However it seems that less than a day since its funding program was launched, it was shut down without any explanation as to why. Perhaps going so public and asking the public to fund a website for piracy wasn’t the best idea and the authorities might have gotten involved, or maybe it went against GoFundMe’s terms of service.

It is a bit odd that KAT’s revival is taking a little longer than other piracy websites such as The Pirate Bay. Whether or not they will be returning remains to be seen, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more updates on the site.
