Jon Stewart’s departure as the host of The Daily Show left many fans heartbroken but they were delighted to find out that he had signed a four year contract with HBO for a new show. Details about Jon Stewart’s new show have been slim but a new report published today offers some information about what it’s going to be. Variety reports that Jon Stewart’s new show is going to be an “animated parody of a cable news network.”
This was actually confirmed by Casey Bloys who is the programming president over at HBO. Who better to confirm this than the person who is responsible for programming at the premium cable network.
Jon Stewart’s new show is currently untitled but at least we now have a faint idea of what it’s going to be. Bloys wouldn’t confirm precisely when the show will be aired but did say that it would premiere later this year either in September or October.
Bloys also revealed that Stewart is setting up an animation studio in HBO which will allow him and his team to create online content to comment on daily news, they will also be creating a weekly TV series.
Many would be happy to have Stewart commenting on the news again even if it’s not his face they see on TV.
