Google’s unique email experience – called Inbox by Gmail – has received several new improvements today that add features often requested by users. The new features continue with the Inbox team’s aim to help organize email and save time. New integrations have been added which make it easier for users to see what’s happening, get organized Github and Trello project updates, Google Alerts previews as well as take advantage of Google Drive integration.
The Inbox team got together with project management app Trello and software collaboration platform GitHub to improve email notifications for both of these services.
Those who use Trello will now get a summary of what’s new with their Trello projects allowing them to stay up to date with the latest updates. GitHub users will get a summary of code changes and filed issues for each repository.
Users will now be able to scan through their Google Alerts like a newsletter. New alerts will be summarized within the Inbox. Drive integration allows users to insert Drive links into emails, check and fix permissions for those links as well as save email attachments to Drive.
Other requested features include the ability to drag-and-drop contacts between to, cc, and bcc in compose on the web and the ability to delete right from the inbox. The Inbox team promises more improvements in the coming months.
