iFixit Scores The Galaxy Note 7 A 4/10 For Repairability

Sometimes the complexity of a repair job could impact the price of the repair itself, so that’s definitely something you’ll want to take into consideration if you are eyeing the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, which according to the folks at iFixit, is a phone that is pretty hard to repair and has been given a 4/10 for its repairability.

According to the website, the reason is namely because of its curved display, which means that “replacing the front glass without destroying the display is probably impossible.” They also cite that both the front and back glass could be easily cracked when attempting to remove it due to the use of strong adhesives, and also makes it harder to access the innards of the handset itself.

However if you do somehow manage to gain access to its innards, therein lies another problem as more strong adhesive is used for the battery and motherboard, meaning that prying them loose could possibly result in damage in the process. That being said while these are some of the issues, iFixit notes that the modular design of the components means that once these hurdles are cleared, replacing some of the components independently is possible.

They also point out that the phone has improved cable routing which means that the charging port board can be removed without having to disassemble the display. Overall it sounds like beginning the repair process itself is pretty much the hardest part, so maybe you’ll want to consider investing in some protection if you want to avoid an expensive and difficult repair.
