huawei_mate_s2Last year Huawei made their very first Nexus handset in the form of the Nexus 6P. One of its design signatures was the camera bump which was very obvious, but not necessarily a deal breaker. In fact it looks like Huawei could be considering recycling the design, thanks to a recent sighting on TENAA.

As you can see in the image above, the handset pictured certainly looks like it shares some design traits with the Nexus 6P. If there are any differences, it is really subtle and we can’t really make it out. Now obviously this isn’t the Nexus 6P and some have speculated that what we are really looking at is the Huawei Mate S2.

In terms of specs, it isn’t anything close to the Nexus 6P either. It will sport a 5.9-inch Full HD display, and under the hood, a Kiris 960 octa-core chipset can be found. It will come with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 16MP rear-facing camera, and an 8MP front-facing camera. It also appears to come with Android 7.0 Nougat preinstalled, meaning it could beat the LG V20 to the punch.

That being said given that it was spotted on TENAA, which is China’s equivalent of the FCC, it seems unlikely that the phone will be making its way stateside, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled all the same just to make sure.
