A couple of years ago it was considered unusual for smartphones to have displays over 5 inches. At that time any smartphone with a display over 5 inches was considered to be too big but the industry has changed since then. Most handsets are now firmly above the 5 inch threshold but it’s still uncommon for display sizes to reach 6 inch and above for smartphones but that’s not going to stop Huawei from launching the Honor Note 8 with an absolutely massive 6.6 inch display.
The Honor Note 8 isn’t a flagship smartphone, it’s more of a polished mid-range handset, with the biggest selling point being its 6.6 inch 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution display.
Huawei’s latest handset is powered by Huawei’s Kirin 955 octacore processor coupled with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB of expandable storage. It also features an 8 megapixel front camera, 13 megapixel rear camera, a fingerprint scanner as well as a 4,500mAh battery.
The company is going to release the Honor Note 8 in China initially starting from August 9th. Prices range from 2,299 RMB or $349 for the 32GB model to 2,799 RMB or $420 for the 128GB model.
Huawei is going to release the handset in other markets as well so customers outside of China will be able to get their hands on it as well. The company has confirmed that the 8 series will make its way to the United States as well, pricing and availability will be confirmed at a later date.
