Note that this does not mean that Square Enix is done with Final Fantasy, it’s just that there are no plans for future titles that might still live in the Final Fantasy XV universe. Speaking to GameSpot, the game’s director Hajime Tabata said, “To answer the question of whether we have any intention of making further games with Noctis in them after or continuing the story after Final Fantasy XV is out, I can tell you we don’t currently have any plans for that.”
He adds, “There may be a call for it business-wise, but personally from our point of view, the way we see it is there are people that have been waiting for this game for a very long time now, and we want them to keep enjoying it for as long as possible.” Of course given that the game hasn’t been released, we guess we won’t know how gamers might react to the game.
Maybe the response could be so good that the company might change their mind about sequels, but either way that’s Square Enix’s stance for now, so maybe fans should just accept it as it is for now. In the meantime Final Fantasy XV’s release has been delayed to November, so gamers will still have a bit of waiting to do.
