So when is Android 7.0 Nougat going to be released? Last we heard, it was supposed to be today, at least that’s according to Canadian carrier Telus who claims that the release date for the latest Android build is set for the 22nd of August. However it seems that carriers in Australia beg to differ.
According to Australian carrier Optus, they have listed Android 7.0’s release as being at the end of August. This is based on the carrier’s software update page where they are currently testing Android 7.0 for the Nexus 6P, in which they expect that it will be released by the end of this month.
Vodafone Australia seems to have something else in mind. According to the carrier’s website, they claim that there are some problems with Android 7.0 on the Nexus 6P, and that this was discovered during the course of testing and that an investigation is currently underway. Note that this isn’t Google or Vodafone’s problem, but rather Huawei, meaning that the onus has fallen onto the OEM to deal with it.
To be fair, Google has not provided a specific date for Android 7.0’s release, but so far companies like Samsung, LG, and Sony already preparing to their phones for the update, so we’re guessing that it shouldn’t be too far off.
