Barbra Streisand is a legend in her own right. You and I might not be the kind of people to get Apple CEO Tim Cook on the phone but she certainly is. In an interview with NPR, Streisand talked about the distress that Siri caused her as she wasn’t pronouncing her name correctly. So Streisand did what most of us can not do if Siri pronounces our name incorrectly, she called Tim Cook to look into it.
Streisand might be a difficult name to pronounce even for some humans so one can understand why a digital personal assistant like Siri could be doing it incorrectly.
Apparently, Siri was pronouncing the second “s” in her name with a “z” sound when in fact the second “s” in her name should be soft. That’s something which troubled the star and she decided to take matters into her own hands.
“What did I do? I called the head of Apple, Tim Cook,” she said in the interview, “And he delightfully agreed to have Siri change the pronunciation of my name finally with the next update on September 30.”
Now that’s not an option for you and I, but you’ve got to admit, it pays to have friends in high places!
