Bang & Olufsen is expanding its multi-room speaker lineup today with the addition of the BeoSound 1 and BeoSound 2. The company says that these new wireless speaker systems have been designed for convenience and 360-degree sound projection no matter where the speakers are placed in the home. You might be forgiven for thinking that these devices look more like lamps than speakers. Both of them have a conical design and feature aluminum shells that give them a premium look and feel, precisely what you would expect from a B&O product.
“BeoSound 1 & 2 is designed to cater for a flexible lifestyle where music blends naturally into the home. The design is unobtrusive yet powerful, underscoring the purpose of the speakers,” the company says in its press release.
The conical design actually serves a purpose. This shape lets the thumps of bass units out beneath while they are slightly open at the top for acoustical reasons.
BeoSound 1 is portable and lightweight. It’s made for mobility which is why it has a battery-driven option as well. There’s a small groove under the top to provide better grip when the speaker is lifted up and moved around. The BeoSound 2 is bigger and more powerful which is why it’s not meant to be carried around. Keep it wherever you want and enjoy its “vigorous output of excellent sound with great clarity and distinction.”
Both speakers have the Acoustic Lens Technology taken from classic Bang & Olufsen speakers such as BeoLab 5 and BeoLab 18, this enables them to promise 360-degree projection of music. Connectivity options include AirPlay, BNLA, Bluetooth, and Google Cast.
BeoSound 1 is available in Bang & Olufsen stores starting today for $1,495 while BeoSound 2 will be available by the end of October for $1,895.
