AT&T confirmed back in March this year that it’s going to launch a trio of standalone online TV streaming services under the DirecTV brand. Over the past few months, the company has been inking deals with content providers who will be making their channels available on the services. AT&T has now confirmed that HBO has signed on as well, the premium cable network’s linear channel will be available for over-the-top streaming via the DirecTV streaming service.

This announcement was made as HBO renewed its agreement for the traditional DirecTV and U-verse services. AT&T dubs this agreement historic as it covers both traditional and over-the-top streaming platforms.

AT&T has not yet confirmed how much DirecTV Now or DirecTV Mobile is going to cost, but it’s important to get the hype going for these services by confirming which channels will be available for subscribers. Disney has already confirmed that ABC, Disney, and ESPN channels will be available and now HBO and Cinemax have been locked in as well.

Services like Sling TV and PlayStation Vue have already been around for a long time and they offer a significant number of channels to subscribers. It certainly won’t be an easy road for the new DirecTV streaming services.

The DirecTV-branded online TV streaming services are scheduled to go live in the fourth quarter of this year.
